Fair and Balanced

Friday, September 15th, 2006

This letter in today’s Amarillo Globe news made me thank once again that I believe in personal responsibility.

James Fluegel says, among other things, “It is time conservatives who backed Bush on the Iraq misadventure admit we were deceived and wrong.”

His LTE says a lot of other stuff and makes some decent points about getting back to conservatism, which I agree with, but this is the only line I somewhat disagree with.

Fluegel, along with the left and democrats, are scapegoating Bush for their own poor decisions.  The left and their supporters have so much hatred for Bush they forget they signed the resolution to go to war and made a bug fuss about Saddam having WMDs and whatever else.  I am sure you remember those quote passed around in e-mails and in various videos out there.

If Bush is a liar, all of the other people who repeated what he said are liars, too.  Given that, how many people do you honestly think will admit they are liars?  My bet is none.

Secondly, if Mr. Fuegel wants to think he was deceived and he was wrong to support OIF, that’s fine, but there is a lot more blame to be spread around as opposed to putting it all on Bush’s shoulders.

My Opinion on ABC’s "The Path to 9/11"

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Democrats are coming out of the woodwork to complain about ABC’s upcoming docudrama “Path to 9/11″ because it (allegedly falsely)slams the Clinton administration for not doing enough to catch Osamma bin Laden. Bill Clinton, and Sandy Berger, both convicted liars and felons, have written letters to ABC saying that the docudrama needs to be changed or not aired at all. Richard Clarke and Albright are in on the whinefest, too.

I can understand them being upset especially if what is being portrayed as false. I am skeptical of taking convicted and known liars words about what went on then, however. One scene, as described in the link above, does seem to be false. The scene has to do with Albirght tipping Pakistan off to missile being launched against OBL when the 9/11 commission report says that a member of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff tipped Pakistan off about the ordeal. Given that, at least some of the complaints are legitimate.

The only bone I have to pick with their complaining is their hypocrisy. Where were these people’s complaints when Michael Moore was producing fabrications about the Bush administration? I’ll tell you where they were, they (democrats) were inviting Michael Moore to sit in the presidential box at the Democratic National Convention.

Furthermore, Fahrenheit 9/11 was touted as a factual documentary and even won awards as such. “The Path to 9/11″ is being touted as a docudrama and specifically says that scenes are dramatized. Not that just because “The Path to 9/11″ may have fabrications does not make those fabrications ok. The point is that Democrats are selective in their criticisms.

Be sure and check out Michelle Malkin’s website where she illustrates’s the differences in how Republicans and Democrat bloggers are planning on commemorating the anniversary of 9/11.

I really don’t plan on watching the program. I have class on Monday so if I watched it on Sunday I would be left unsatisfied.

Update: John Hawkins at rightwing news.com puts it into perspective:

Having the Clinton Administration complain that they look bad in this mini-series is like a football team that lost a game 56-0 griping that the highlight reel on the news that night made them look bad. The truth is that the Clinton Administration didn’t take terrorism as seriously as they should have and did very little of note to prevent it. Since that’s the case, the Clinton Administration can’t possibly come off well in any sort of mini-series that accurately discusses what happened.

My entry:  “Hillary Clinton greets the prducers of Sam Raimi’s upcoming film Evil Dead 3.  The Senator is vying for the “queen of the undead role”.  She is favored for the position because of the cost savings in makeup as well as fitting into the character’s role without much effort. ”
