They Question War…Again and Again and Again – and Again? … Not So Much!

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Today marks the seventh anniversary of the “invasion and occupation of Iraq.”  A local anti-war group called Question War Amarillo used to commemorate this date with a peace vigil and march.  Their last such event took place on March 19, 2008. Here’s a link to a blog post about that event, entitled “We Question War…Again and Again and Again.”

Well, it’s been two years since Question War Amarillo has “questioned the war.”  Why the lack of resolve?  What’s changed since 2008?  I think the answer can be found in this photo, taken at one of their rallies a in April 2006:

say-no-to-war

The person in the middle is none other than our own Bodacious.  If you can’t make out his sign, it reads:  “Say NO TO WAR!  Unless a Democrat Is President.”

So, let’s see… 2006 – Republican in the White House – peace vigil and march.

2007 – Republican in the White House – peace vigil and march.

2008 – Republican in the White House – peace vigil and march.

2009 – Democrat in the White House - NO peace vigil and march.

2010 – Democrat still in the White House – still NO peace vigil and march.

Yep.

USA Consistently Dominates Olympics

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

A local blogger posted a cartoon from a newspaper that effectively calls American’s fat lazy slobs.  The comparison was made by showing a Canadian Curler and an American hyper-obese couch potato eating cheese curls.  The blogger was probably projecting, but I have been following the medal count and the USA is dominating with the total number of medals.

This also got me thinking, how many medals have been won by the USA across all of the Olympic games?  The results my come as shock to America haters, but the USA consistently dominates the Olympic games, by a relatively wide margin, too.

Here is an interactive table of the various medal counts.

Read it ad weep, liberals.  America produces the best athletes the world has ever known.

Creeping Fascism From the Left

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Here are some quotes that are relevant to the topic:

Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA – ordinary citizens don’t need guns, as their having guns doesn’t serve the State.  -  Heinrich Himmler

“Nobody should be selling weapons of war in the streets of our country. It’ll be a tough vote, but it’s the right policy,” Kerry said. “I’m a hunter, I believe in the Second Amendment, and I don’t foresee any efforts to curtail anybody’s rights. But assault weapons? If people want to use them, join the military.”   – John Kerry, 2009.

I know John “I was in Vietnam” Kerry isn’t exactly Himmler, but he is a prominent democrat.

How Filthy the Left Really Is

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Remeber back during the ‘04 and ‘06 elections the liberals would always throw around some ghastly number about how many people had died in Iraq.  Well, it turns out that the guy who came up with those number is a fraud.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A prominent group of polling researchers has accused the lead author of a 2006 study suggesting massive civilian deaths in Iraq of violating the polling profession’s codes and ethics.

The Executive Council of the American Association for Public Opinion Research said Dr. Gilbert Burnham, a Johns Hopkins University professor, had repeatedly refused to cooperate with an eight-month investigation into his research on the Iraqi death toll that made headlines in October 2006 when it was published by The Lancet, a British medical journal.

The widely publicized study headed by Burnham contended that nearly 655,000 Iraqis had died because of the U.S.-led invasion and war in Iraq.

“When asked to provide several basic facts about this research, Burnham refused,” the council said in a statement. It noted that the group’s Code of Professional Ethics and Practices calls for researchers to disclose their methodology when survey findings are made public so they can be independently evaluated and verified.

“Dr. Burnham provided only partial information and explicitly refused to provide complete information about the basic elements of his research,” said Mary Losch, chair of the association’s Standards Committee.

The group made no judgment on whether Burnham’s findings were accurate but said his refusal to fully cooperate with the probe “violates the fundamental standards of science, seriously undermines open public debate on critical issues and undermines the credibility of all survey and public opinion research.”

Burnham is the co-director of the Center for Refugee and Disaster Response at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He could not be reached for comment.

Tim Parsons, a spokesman for the school said: “We are disappointed AAPOR has chosen to find Dr. Burnham in violation of the organization’s ethics code. However, neither Dr. Burnham nor the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health are members of AAPOR.”

Burnham’s research was based on interviews of households and not a body count. It found that about 600,000 Iraqis had died from violence, mostly gunfire. It also found a small increase in deaths from other causes such as heart disease and cancer.

He contended that as of the date of his study, deaths were occurring in Iraq at a rate more than three times higher than before the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Burnham’s research, released just weeks before congressional midterm elections, was immediately questioned by some experts who said the figures appeared too high. An accurate count of Iraqi deaths has been difficult to obtain, but one respected group put its rough estimate at the time of Burnham’s study closer to 50,000.

Burnham said at the time that his estimate was much higher than others because it was derived from a house-to-house survey rather than approaches that depend on body counts or media reports.

The Association for Public Opinion Research said it began investigating Burnham’s findings in March 2008 after one of its members complained. It said it had several times formally requested basic information about the survey, including the wording of questions asked and instructions and explanations given to respondents. It said Burnham refused to provide the information.

Burnham is not a member of the group, which says it has nearly 2,200 members from government agencies, colleges and universities, nonprofit organizations, media corporations and commercial polling firms.

Seems liars like this are almost always elevated to lofty positions and hardly every questioned.  If they are questioned they lie, deny, and obstruct.  What a wonderful 4 years we have coming up!

What the Dems Didn’t Realize

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

The following picture was posted across the liberal blogosphere.  It depicts Barack Obama’s head pasted on a super size Greek figure in front of a Greek temple looking down on his observers.  This photoshopped picture is meant answer critisisms from the Republican’s of Obama giving his acceptance speech in front of a mock Greek temple and to say that Obama is a giant among men; that his speech made him great.

Here is the photo:

What the lefty loons don’t realize is what this photo actually depects without BO’s head pasted on.  The picture is from a 1967 episode of Star Trek called, ”Who Mourns for Adonais?”  Read the description at the previous link if you like, but I will provide a breif synopsis.

The character that BO’s head is pasted on is Apollo.  In the episode he claims to be the actual ancient Greek god Apollo.  The episode begins with a very large hand reaching out and seizing the Enterprise and holding it steady in place.  Kirk and the away team in the picture above confront Apollo.  Apollo refuses to let them leave, says he will provide for all of their needs, and effortlessly swoons the female away team member into loving him.

In the screen grab that was modified above, Apollo demonstrates his abilities after the away team is insubordinate and refuses to comply with his demands.  The episode contains other examples of this. When Scotty attempts to rescue the female way team member Apollo electocutes him.

At long last the Enterprise destoys the Greek temple which was acting as Apollo’s power source and the episode ends with Apollo defeated.

Do you think it is any coincedence that liberals pasted BO’s face onto the head of an authoritarian maniac posing as a savior wanting to provide for the needs and want of everyone but in reality wants subjects to rule over and worship him?

Coincedences are few and far between.

Would You Ever Vote for a Democrat?

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

On a discussion board I frequent the question was asked, “If the Democrats were not about gun control would you still vote Republican? In other words if the Democratic party blackballed all of their gun control advocates and publicly humiliate them would you vote Democrat?”

I can’t vote democrat every because of the blatant intelectual dishonesty a majority of their leaders display. Stuff like Howard Dean wanting to do away with the electoral college.

One thing that pisses me off about Dem talking points to no end is the “tax cuts for the rich” canard. Yes, the rich did get tax cuts, but no democrat I have heard will ever say why that is bad and will definatlely never tell you what the result of the tax cuts were. The whole thing is to drum up support among ignorant or stupid poor people who think the rich keep them down.

“The rich” pay 90+% off all income taxes and as a result of the Bush tax cuts tax revenues are higher than they would have been under previous tax law. Those facts are completely lost on Democrats and is representative of a larger issue. Unscrupulous pandering with extreme disregard for the facts is what turns me off, and that happens on far more issues than the one above.

I got into a discussion with a local Democrat about why he wanted universal healthcare. His position was that healthcare was a right and should be provided to everyone. I didn’t chastize him for his position, but pointed out the negative effects, such as Walter Reed and VA hospitals and other shortcoming and dangers such a the government having an interest in keeping people healthy and the slippery slope of banning smoking and trans fats. All of that stuff was completely lost on him and he doesn’t care as long as everyone receives healthcare.

Now, I am not saying all democrats are like that, but that really isn’t the point I am making. The point is that Democrat’s positions are have shaky foundations.

A don’t think I am being an apologist for republicans. This current crop is contemptable and I loathe a great deal of their actions, from the top down.

Also, I apply this thinking to National level politics.  At the local level there are probably a great deal of outstanding democrats.  Abe Lopez, a local judge, comes to mind who was very good at what he did.

Obommunists and Obommunism

Friday, April 11th, 2008

I can’t take credit for coining these terms.  A person at another website I frequent did.

What is Obommunism? Barack Obama led communism, of course.  Who are obommunists?  Followers of Barack Obama of course.

Update:  I wanted to add this yesterday, but the source for the comments was blogger at the Huffington Post.  I wanted to wait until this stuff was carried by a real news organization before I put it up here. Here is the original source.

Newsbusters puts it into perspective better than I can:

Religion is the opiate of the masses. — Karl Marx, 1843

It’s not surprising that they get bitter, they cling to . . . religion . . . as a way to explain their frustrations. — Barack Obama, 2008

Has anyone else pointed out the striking similarity between Barack Obama’s recent statement about tough economic times driving people to religion and that of another person who preached change: Karl Marx?

Obama added guns and xenophobia to his list of proletarian elixirs for bitterness. But the fundamental point remains: Barack apparently doesn’t take religion, his own or anyone else’s, too seriously. It’s not a search for truth or an attempt to live in accordance with God’s word. It’s just a way to get by, a stupefacient that helps proles endure the pain of living in an economy unfairly dominated by the “haves.” Karl would concur.

So there you have it.  The newsbusters link has another bit about one of BO’s mentors being a “noted member of the Communist Party USA.”

Michelle Obama said the other day about universal healthcare:

“If we don’t wake up as a nation with a new kind of leadership…for how we want this country to work, then we won’t get universal health care,” she said.

“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”

Things like the above just scratch the surface of not only what Obomunism is all about, but the Democratic party as well.  It all boils down to, “The government (Democrat controlled that is) knows what is best for you.”

Don’t be fooled by a liberal telling you otherwise.  Actions speak louder than words and liberals talk out of both sides of their mouths.  From one side they will say they are about personal freedoms, civil rights, and equality for all.  Out of the other side they support policies  and policy makers that seek to control how you live your life and squash opposing opinions (Fairness doctrine).

Another example is liberals talking out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to “fear mongering.”  They will denounce the Bush Administration for using fear mongering to get support for Operation Iraqi freedom, but out of the other side of their mouths they talk about the despair brought about by “Climate Change” or “Global Warming.”

My solution, short of voting for the candidate that opposes these ideals (notice I didn’t say McCain), is to reject liberal principles at every turn.

This Is a Story About an ACLU Attorney Who’s Not Ashamed of His Marxist Roots

Monday, March 10th, 2008

UPDATE (03/13/08): Thanks to Grits for Breakfast (from the blog of the same name), I’ve come to understand that the title of this post is somewhat misleading.  Jeff Blackburn is not (nor has he ever been) an ACLU staff attorney (which is what most people think of when they hear the phrase “ACLU attorney”).  He has been, according to the ACLU’s website, an ACLU “volunteer attorney” and was referred to as an ACLU cooperating attorney in an early press release regarding the Tulia civil rights suit.  On at least one other website, Mr. Blackburn is referred to as a member of “the local ACLU board.”  I had thought about retitling this post “This Is a Story About an ACLU Volunteer and/or Cooperating Attorney and/or Local ACLU Board Member Who’s Not Ashamed of His Marxist Roots,” but even the original title was too cumbersome, so I decided to handle it this way.  I hope this addendum clears up any confusion that might have arisen from my original title.

While visiting our favorite left-wing website, I came across an interesting post entitled “some men are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness spilled upon them.”  In it, our friend Spacedark waxes eloquent about Jeff Blackburn, the hero of a “Tulia Texas,” a new documentary about the imfamous Tulia Drug Bust.

Spacedark was kind enough to provide a link to the film’s website, which provides some great photos of Tulia, as well as a preview to the film (click on “watch the preview” at the top of the page).  In the preview, each of the main characters gives their take on what the story is all about.  The last to speak is Jeff Blackburn, defense attorney in the criminal case and plaintiffs’ attorney in the subsequent civil rights suit.

I’m not going to comment on the merits of either the criminal or the civil case; that’s already been played out in the court of public opinion.  But in the preview, something about the footage of Jeff Blackburn (presumably shot in his office) caught my eye.

If you look at the bookshelf, directly above and to the right of Mr. Blackburn’s head, there’s a bust of none other than Владимир Ильич Ленин (Vladimir Ilyich Lenin), founder of Bolshevism and leader of the Great October Revolution.

And people wonder why we call PTS the “Panhandle Правда Squad”!

Obama the Communist

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

The above picture is of the Cuban flag with Che Guevera imposed over the right side.  This flag is found in Barack Obama’s Houston campaign hedquarters as evidenced in this video.

And how could we ever forget the whole “Hand over the heart” fiasco?

Obama Analysis

Monday, February 11th, 2008

While browsing our local blogosphere I discovered a large movement in Amarillo “metroplex” that supports Barack Obama.  Curious to see who these people were I sought out thier information on Barack’s website.  The largest group is “Amarillo Texas for Obama!!!”

Everyone who is associated with the group has a profile that lists where they live, birthdate, whether or not they are registered to vote, why they support Obama, and what issues they care about.  Everyone of the 15 or so profiles of Amarillo area persons I clicked on cares about civil rights or civil liberties.  Being that a vast majority of Democrat’s agenda is to thwart civil liberties I was curious how all of these people could care so much about the civil rights issue and support someone like Barack Obama, so I did some research on the guy.

I haven’t given two thoughts about Barack until I read about a rally here in Amarillo, so I know very little about him.  There isn’t much to know about person’s aligned with the Democratic party.  I went to On The Issues.org to find out what his positions were.

Most curious is Barack’s support of the Patriot Act.  If you recall, every time a democrat moans about civil liberties it has to do with the Patriot Act, warrantless wiretaps, or something about Gitmo.  What kind of logic allows these people to say they care about civil liberties and then support someone who voted to curtail civil liberties by voting for the Patriot Act?  I am guessing it is a total lack of logic.

Furthermore, Barack’s record on supporting the 2nd ammendment is attrocious.  There is another civil liberty that local supporters say they care about but their leader doesn’t.

Despite denying it Obama has supported a single payer healthcare system, that is to say he supports nationalized healthcare, be it controlling insurance companies or the gov footing the bill.  Without getting into the costs of such a farce and considering some of the other positions Obama has we can easily see that this violates several civil liberties.

Obama supports banning smoking and the government doing something about obesity on the basis of supporting his nationalized healthcare agenda.  The gov would regulate smoking and eateries across the nation in an effort to keep all citizens healthy.  How is this going to be accomplished?  Are they going to do like they tried in Missouri to tell restaurants that they can’t serve food to fat people?

How transparent is it that Obama cares about civil rights?  I could right a book on all the exploits the democrats have done to subvert civil rights.  Woops, someone beat me to it.

Read the above linked page about Obama on the issues.  I will never support him for several reasons, primarily his stance on the 2nd Ammendment, but also his support for partial birth abortions and his subversion of the war effort.

On the above linked pages the local Obama supporters talk about a rally they recently had to shout at passing cars.  They say they are going to do it again and I am sure the event will show up on the Obama website.  I just may show up with the following sign:

Obama Supports
Partial Birth Abortion
