I was initially discouraged when I heard of the recent twin suicide bombings in Baghdad that comprised the deadliest day of terror in the capital city since the beginning of the Surge. My first concern was that the gains of the last year might be reversing. My next concern was that these two incidents would be used by the anti-war factions to revive demands for immediate pull-out of our troops from Iraq.
But this morning I heard more details about this attack. According to an AP Report, the two “suicide bombers” were not fanatical Muslim men volunteering to give their lives in exchange for a special place in paridise, but two Down Syndrome women whose bombs were detonated by remote-control! According to the AP report:
“Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said about 70 people were killed in both attacks [the number is now up to about 100], which he said were committed by terrorists motivated by revenge and ‘to show that they are still able to stop the march of history and of our people toward reconciliation.’”
What kind of subhuman monsters would perpetrate such evil acts using two innocent, unsuspecting, mentally disabled women? The cowardice of such an act is only exceeded by its pure unadulterated evil. And for those who would use these dispicable acts as a pretext to bring our troops home before the job is done, I have two questions:
- Do you think that this kind of evil will end if we pull out? (Bear in mind that these bombings weren’t against our troops, but rather against Iraqis.)
- Do you think that by walking away from this kind of evil, we Americans will somehow be immune from a similar fate, either at home or when we’re abroad?
The Surge has been so successful that only the most cowardly of acts can put a dent in it. Rather than lose our resolve, these twin acts of desperation should remind us that we owe the Iraqis, the civilized world, and ultimately ourselves a final, decisive victory in Iraq so that this blight on humanity might be stopped once and for all.
This was one of the most damning accounts of the true nature of Islaam that I have seen. There have been other accounts similar to this. In the beginning the usually young men were often told they were to just deliver or park a truck in a certain location. The bomb in the truck would be remotely detonated along the way or just as he reached the intended target.
You might remember the retarted boy the Israilies found and stopped at a crossing point.
It’s as Ive said before, the war in Iraq or Iran or Afganistan is irrelevent. THe war should be on Islam. The logical starting point would be removing all of ISlam from this country. Ban it as the terroists organization it really is.
As a side note, you might have heard about the Canyon high school grad recently killed in Iraq. He was the son of the pastor where my youngest daughter goes to church. I’d never met his son just the father. He’s the Lutheran Pastor here in Canyon. No one has been able to contact him since this happened. I can’t imagine the stuggle that must be happening between this loss and his faith right now. I don’t agree with his religion but he is a good man.
It sickens me to see these deaths in a war that is being fought in a PC fashion. We should be targeting mosques, mecca, medina, all the centers of that evil religion. If we don’t kill the head the body will never die. There will never be democracy in these counties as long as Islam lives
celtictexan:
The problem I see with your final solution is threefold:
1)The total world population of adherents to Islam ranges somewhere between 1.1 and 1.8 billion. Can you reasonably expect to wipe out all of these people before they retaliate for attacks on “mosques, mecca, medina, all the centers of that evil religion”? Bear in mind also that Pakistan has nuclear weapons. Do you honestly think they wouldn’t use them against us if we attacked their holiest of shrines?
2) How many of the 1.1 to 1.8 billion Muslims are actively engaged in terrorism? Even if that number is 100 million, that’s still only 10 percent, which means that 90 percent of Muslims aren’t a threat to us. Wiping out 100% of Islam because 10% is terrorist is the moral equivalent of leveling a whole city because one out of 10 residents is involved in crime. A major reason that terrorism has declined dramatically in Iraq is because average Iraqi Muslims (both Sunni or Shia) became sick and tired of the violence and decided to support our efforts through the Awakening Movement and Concerned Iraqi Citizen groups. Will your scorched earth approach create more or fewer radical Islamists?
3) One of the most hideous tenets of radical Islamic terrorism is that there is no room for tolerance. Non-Muslims must either convert or die; there’s no middle ground. By adopting the same all-or-nothing approach, how are we any better than these monsters?
To be sure, we need to defend ourselves against the kind of domestic threat that has overtaken the UK. I’m not averse to close scrutiny of what’s being preached in mosques in this country. My father told me that during World War I, U.S. government agents attended our church to monitor the German-language services for possible subversion. And obviously I’m all for the defeat of groups like the Taliban, Al Qaeda, etc. But to wipe out millions upon millions of Muslims (or force them to “convert by the sword”) simply because some are hell bent on destroying us is economically unfeasible at best and genocide at worst.
1)The total world population of adherents to Islam ranges somewhere between 1.1 and 1.8 billion.
And growing Rapidly both through threat, murder and appealing to the poor, by blaming the West.
Do you honestly think they wouldn’t use them (nukes) against us if we attacked their holiest of shrines?
It will eventually happen anyway left unchecked.
2)How many of the 1.1 to 1.8 billion Muslims are actively engaged in terrorism?
All who are faithful to the teaching of Islam
Will your scorched earth approach create more or fewer radical Islamists?
Did the scorched earth approach produce more Rebs in the civil war? More Nazi’s in Dresden, More Sammari’s in Nagasaki/Tokyo?
3) One of the most hideous tenets of radical Islamic terrorism is that there is no room for tolerance. Non-Muslims must either convert or die; there’s no middle ground.By adopting the same all-or-nothing approach, how are we any better than these monsters?
What if the same had been said during WW2? Are we Nazi’s now? Is Germany?
But to wipe out millions upon millions of Muslims (or force them to “convert by the sword”) simply because some are hell bent on destroying us is economically unfeasible at best and genocide at worst.
It would never come to that. As with the South, Germany twice, and Japan they will at some point capitulate. All will see the supposed superiority of Allah as the lie it is. A defensive war is always a losing war.
One thing is for sure if we don’t do it to them they will do it to us.
Todays paper contained the story about the Luthern minister here, that lost his son. Four others were killed with him.
