Few things make me emotional, this did.

Arlington at Christmas
I had no idea this was done. I thought you might want to see it.

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers .
Know the line has held, your job is done. Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell…

Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths — some 5,000 — are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He’s done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.
Hey dad. Been reading your stuff! I like that picture.

Yeah I wish we had known about this while we were out there. We would have went and seen it.
Yeah, I am tempted to go out there again anyway when I go to visit in March. I thought that place was so eerie I guess is the word. Tragic. Isn’t that were the eternal flame grave is too? Maybe by some chance you’ll go out there again haha! (yeah right)
The so called eternal flame is on the grave of John Kennedy or is it Robert Kennedy. I don’t remember for sure but it’s really a waste of gas as neither deserve such recognition. They shouldn’t even be allowed in Arlington cemetary as the intent of the place is for American hero’s not lib politicians.
Well the idea is cool, but you’re right about that. Who would you think deserves it the most? Out of all the people in the world and in history, who would you believe deserves to be recognized eternally?
I’ll have t think about that one. Tough question. But at first thought the men in the tomb of the unknowns. Or perhaps the first Greeks. The father’s of democracy and science and western philosophy. More later. Got to think.
There was a feature about this on the CBS Sunday Morning News this morning. It’s a great story and a fitting tribute to those who “gave the last full measure of devotion.”
Merry Christmas, one and all!
I wish I had seen that. Did you watch Ron Paul by chance? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/22378869#22378869
I did see Ron Paul on Meet the Press, but because it was running in the same time slot as Fox News Sunday, I didn’t see the interview in its entirety, because I was switching back and forth. From what I saw, I thought he did a pretty good job, but Tim Russert had done his homework and had a few “gotcha” moments:
1) Dr. Paul is against earmarks, yet he’s the author of at least 8 earmarks for his district; and
2) he claims to be one of four congressmen to support Reagan against Ford in 1976, but later is quoted as having called Reagan a “traitor” for his foreign adventurism).
Re 1) Paul claimed this was merely the equivalent of a tax credit for his constituents; and
Re 2) he claimed he must have been misquoted, because he would never have used the word “traitor” about Reagan.
Other than those two examples, I thought he left a pretty good impression. Like most candidates, he does better in a a longer one-on-one format, as opposed to 30-second soundbites in debate format.
P.S. I actually saw the feature about Merrill Worcester (the wreath man) on Fox News Sunday; he was the “Power Player of the Week.” I think the reason I thought it was on CBS Sunday Morning News was because I had been channel surfing to that show too.
Here’s another review of Ron Paul’s Meet the Press appearance:

I hadn’t realized he’s 72 years old. That makes him a year older than John McCain. It also means he was the same age as Mike Huckabee (52) when he ran for president as a Libertarian the first time in 1988.

Yeah, Tim Russert (or who ever lines up the questions)does indeed grill those who com on his show. Got’cha moments are his specialty. If you go to the link I posted above you can see the video of all that have gone on. Romney got really tore up last week in my opinion. He really showed himself to be a master politician in the worst vein. I’ve not gotten to reviewing all the interviews yet. I understand that Guilliani got hit really hard also. I want to see some of his interviews with the Dem. bunch. I’m curious if he is as tough with them. But I’ve not had the chance to see them all yet.
As far as his record on earmarks from the transcript here he actually had 65 earmarks. In the first nine months of the federal government’s” fiscal “2006 fiscal year,” “it received more than $4 billion.” And they report, The Wall Street Journal, 65 earmark-targeted projects, $400 million that you have put into congressional bills for your district, but in truth I thought his answer very very good. First he put them in but then voted against each. He went on to say it’s all part of the corrupt way Washington works. He says it’s money that should not have been taken to start with and that he is just getting back what the folks in that area paid in. He goes on in other parts to make it clear that he would get rid of that type of system.
As far as Reagan goes he did deny saying that. But if you look at what he was did claim to be his point, it was much the same as what he said about the current Bush. His point was that each ran on a conservative record then after being elected did much as the Dems do. I.E., continue to grow the federal government. Thus he turned his support away. Ron Paul is a strict constructionist, or more accurately an originalist more later.
By the way there will be a support rally for Ron Paul described below. This is interesting as much has been said about the support for RP coming form the youth of this country. It will be interesting to meet this kid sponsoring this event.
