President Bush’s One Mistake

President Bush did make a bad mistake in the war on terrorism. But the
mistake was not his decision to go to war in Iraq. Bush’s mistake came in
his belief that this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII.
It is not.

Back then, they had just come out of a vicious depression. The country was
steeled by the hardship of that depression, but they still believed
fervently in this country.  They knew that the people had elected their
leaders, so it was the people’s duty to back those leaders.

Therefore, when the war broke out the people came together, rallied behind,
and stuck with their leaders, whether they had voted for them or not or
whether the war was going badly or not.

And war was just as distasteful and the anguish just as great then as it is
today. Often there were more casualties in one day in WWII than we have had
in the entire Iraq war. But that did not matter. The people stuck with the
President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans put aside their
differences in WWII and worked together to win that war.

Everyone from every strata of society, from young to old pitched in. Small
children pulled little wagons around to gather scrap metal for the war
effort. Grade school students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war
bonds to help the effort.

Men who were too old or medically 4F lied about their age or condition
trying their best to join the military. Women doubled their work to keep
things going at home. Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap,
to butter was imposed, yet there was very little complaining.

You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling the President.
Interestingly enough in those days there were no fat cat actors and
entertainers who ran off to visit and fawn over dictators of hostile
countries and complain to them about our President. Instead, they made
upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the troops’ morale. And a
bunch even enlisted.

And imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the day off with a
Pledge of Allegiance, and with prayers for our country and our troops!

Back then, no newspaper would have dared point out certain weak spots in
our cities where bombs could be set off to cause the maximum damage. No
newspaper would have dared complain about what we were doing to catch
spies.

A newspaper would have been laughed out of existence if it had complained
that German or Japanese soldiers were being ‘tortured’ by being forced to
wear women’s underwear, or subjected to interrogation by a woman, or being
scared by a dog or did not have air conditioning.

There were a lot of things different back then. We were not subjected to a
constant bombardment of pornography, perversion and promiscuity in movies
or on radio. We did not have legions of crackheads, dope pushers and armed
gangs roaming our streets.

No, President Bush did not make a mistake in his handling of terrorism. He
made the mistake of believing that we still had the courage and fortitude
of our fathers. He believed that this was still the country that our
fathers fought so dearly to preserve.

It is not the same country. It is now a cross between Sodom and Gomorra and
the land of Oz. We did unite for a short while after 9/11, but our attitude
changed when we found out that defending our country would require some
sacrifices.

We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic Muslims. They believe
that it is okay, even their duty, to kill anyone who will not convert to
Islam. It has been estimated that about one third or over three hundred
million Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists cause…Hitler and Tojo
combined did not have nearly that many potential recruits.

So…we either win it – or lose it – and you ain’t gonna like losing. We must kill them till they beg us to stop, then and only then, can we move forward with creating a rational Democracy.

This was sent to me in an e-mail earlier today I swore it was in some of my added comments but apparantly not. It has also been pointed out that it is at free republic so except for some minor alterations by me most comes from someone else I’m not sure who. Still good words.

I share many of the pessimistic sentiments about American resolve expressed in this post, but every once in a while there’s a glimmer of hope that his country could return to what it once was. Here’s an example.

Things are turning around so dramatically in Iraq that even the Associated Press has to admit it:

Nothing succeeds like success. If even the defeatist press is getting on board, maybe there is still some hope for this country.

That being said, I still think that we could have been at this point much earlier if the Bush Administration had planned better in advance for the post-conflict scenario. And unlike you, celtictexan, I refuse to believe that it can only be accomplished by the kind of scorched earth, kill ‘em all and like Allah sort ‘em out strategy that you seem to advocate. As a people, we’re better than that.

We’re still not out of the woods; I remember how my hopeful optimism following the elections in Iraq were dashed by the attack on the Golden Mosque in Samarra. But after four months of declining casualties maybe, just maybe, we’ve turned the corner. I pray this time I’m right.

Well I had replied to this, this morning but it’s not posted for some reason so guess I’ll do it over. Yeah Fox news had about the same story on their website this morn. Things in some respects are beginning to look better. But there still is a very long row to plow before there will be a functioning democracy in Iraq. (It will never happen) The cost to you and I, the American taxpayer has been and will continue to be staggering for probably the rest of our lives if this weak and feminine way of warfare continues. I really truely and honestly wish that fundemental problems as deep as between the West and Islam could be solved through some “kum-baya” sing along. I really mean that. But it won’t happen.

Remember this that I wrote awhile back (all mine) http://www.ivorydome.us/2006/07/14/how-to-win-a-war/
If not for the scorched earth policy of WW2 most jews in Europe would be dead, all of Europe and perhaps the world would be under NAZI or Japanese rule. If not for the same scorched Earth policy much the same would have happened during WW1. If not for the scorched earth policy of Sherman the south would perhaps still be a place of White Supremacy and the Union devided. And so it goes all through history.

You might recall that I had told you before that
I got rid of Dish. I was tired or endless mindless comercials and non stop Lib reprogramming on most channels. That $70. a month I use to spend on Dish I now use to order programming I like from Discovery or The History channel or the Learning channel. The David Barton documentaries we watched before are an other example.

Anyway right now I’m watching, “Engineering An Empire”, http://store.aetv.com/html/product/index.jhtml?id=76847
The success of scortched Earth policies can go either way. It can be the Monster that is Islam or it can be the monster of war that was Patton or Sherman. But you’ll see few examples in history when dealing with with a mentality like Islam where being nice and spending lots of money gets you long term freedom or security. Your welcome to borrow mine if you don’t want to purchase it.

Anyway we should long ago have had total victory in that entire region. We should have taken the oil to cover the costs. Meca and Medina should be ashes. They should be starving in the streets. Their fear of us should be absolute and total. Their should be no doubt in any Islamic mind the hell that will be brought down on any who support any enemy of the West, or Christianity. They should know by now that their God is not the true God. The bastard child of Abraham and the Infestation Ishmael created should be exterminated. All IMHO.
