Veterans Day

I wouldn’t normally post things that go around the E-mail circuit, but in light of the remarks made by Kerry, and the victory of those who support him I thought this worthwhile. The guy in the wheelchair really says it all.

It  is the VETERAN   ,  not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It  is the

It  is the VETERAN  ,  not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It  is the veteran ,
who serves under the Flag,

ETERNAL  REST GRANT THEM, O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON

THEM  God  Bless them all!!!

Happy Veteran’s Day to all who have served our country!!

Thank you, celtictexan, for reminding me why I chose to serve for 20 years. Despite John Kerry’s “botched joke” that only uneducated people would chose the profession of arms, I mastered two languages and earned two masters degrees during my military career, yet I never earned more than $26,000 a year base pay. Could I have fared better in the private sector? Probably. If I had the chance to do it over again, would I still have served? Absolutely.

I’ve heard the words of your post before, but the photos add so much more, especially the veteran in the wheelchair.

In a few days, Lord willing, my son-in-law will return to his lovely bride from Kuwait after having served in Iraq. Like the Minnesota National Guardsmen, I’m humbled to be numbered among the likes of this courageous young man.

P.S. My son-in-law will return from Kuwait; his lovely bride (i.e. my stepdaughter) isn’t from Kuwait – she’s from Amarillo!

Here’s a great video from last January of a veteran of the War in Afghanistan speaking truth to those who are now in power:

Here’s another clip from the same town hall meeting:

I did take a second look at that. Many do bring home war brides. But I knew what you meant.

I wonder about those sitting while a man in a wheelchair tries to stand. Are the sitters just liberals like Kerry or are they just a product of left leaning schools who have never learned the reason’s and manners associated with the flag.

Some guys at work were talking about a hockey game they were at here in Amarillo. When the Anthem played one guy stood up and turned his back to the flag. Wish, I would have been there.
