If you keep up with politics at all you know that San Francisco voters passed a law this past Tuesday banning the sale and manufacture of all guns and ammunition and will require all hand guns to be turned in by April 1 of 2006. In response to this the NRA has files suit against the cit to get the vote thrown out. I take issue with this because the people voted for what they want. I believe that if the people vote for this stuff then they have to live with it. One of those, “If you make the bed you have to lie in it” type deals.
This issue goes hand in hand with one in some southern town that because of pressure from the ACLU removed a cross from the city’s seal. The citizens voted to put the cross back on the seal and the ACLU plans to file suit. I again disagree with the ACLU’s actions because I believe the people’s wished should not be usurped by the courts, same as in San Francisco.
I will say, however, that the people of San Fran are digging themselves into a grave. Time will tell with this one, though, and my money is that gun crime is going to be rampant while innocent victims who could have protected themselves with a handgun will be taken advantage of.
